30 minutes away from Lake Garda, Rovereto is a lively, cultural centre and home to MART - the international museum of of modern art, designed by the architect Mario Botta. Throughout the centuries Rovereto has been visited by Dante, Michel de Montaigne, Mozart, Goethe, Napoleon and numerous architects and artists who have added to its beauty during the florid period of the Venetian occupation. The castle, which dates back to medieval times, was transformed into a fort during the denomination of the Venetian Republic (1416-1509) and today houses the Historic Italian War Museum.

Only 40km separate Riva del Garda from the city of Trento, across cultivated countryside and little lakes, one of which is the charming Lake Toblino. Trento dates back to   Roman times and has always been a cultural crossroads, as it is situated on the commercial route which links the Dolomites to important centres such as Verona, Bolzano and Innsbruck. 
Things to see:
The archeological remains of the Roman era, from the ancient Tridentum to the early christian cathedral and the beautiful square which lies in front of it, the renaissance   palaces and the Buonconsiglio Castle, which was home to the lord bishop who governed the city for centuries. It is thought to be one of the most beautiful castles in Italy and   is famous for having been the seat of the Trento Council. The museums are numerous and cover a wide variety of interests from art to nature, and science to history.

Bolzano (Bozen) and Renon


A quiet oasis in the heart of the South Tyrol, Bolzano (or Bozen in German,) is a meeting point between Italian and German culture. And you will sense this as you walk through   the historic city centre, or in the museums, churches and castles which surround the heart of the city. After lunch, which is based on typical, local specialities, the trip   continues to the high plain of Renon, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the eastern Dolomites. You reach the summit by means of an ancient, electric train   which helps to preserve the natural environment and which is characterised by the earth pyramids, the most notable geological phenomenen of the high plain.

The city of Romeo and Juliet is first visited on a panoramic bus tour, with the chance to admire the theatre and roman bridge, the city's most beautiful churches and the surrounding hills. Then a pleasant walk through the ancient heart of the city: the Arena amphitheatre, Piazza delle Erbe, the house of Romeo and Juliet and then some free time for shopping in the elegant Corso Mazzini.

Venice is one of the most visited cities in the world and in 1979 it was declared a world heritage site by Unesco. From the Tronchetto island you set off by boat along the   canals of the venetian lagoon, arriving in St Mark's Square with its famous basilica and the "Palazzo Ducale." Walking through the characteristic alleyways of the city, crossing   backwards and forwards on the many bridges, you will easily stumble across monuments, churches, museums and palaces, which house works by the most famous artists.
